About 5pm yesterday June. 15, Bola Tinubu; National Leader of the All Progressives Congress arrived at the Murtala Muhammed Airport aboard his private jet to the warm embrace of aides and associates.
His arrival ended wicked speculations making the rounds since noon that he passed on.
About 4pm, an editor called www.tinubustraight.com to confirm if the rumour was true.
He said a top senator and former governor had called to ask if his medium. picked any negative news about the frontline presidential aspirant.
He was informed that Tinubu, who holds the influential title of the Asiwaju of Lagos and the Jagaban Borgu had just arrived the international airport in Lagos.
Two hours later, pictures and videos showing Tinubu in blue traditional buba and sokoto with his signature cap was all over the social media.
The Media Adviser to the former governor of Lagos State, Mr. Tunde Rahman adopted the strategy of presenting his principal “live” on social media.
He said it would be more effective than issuing a statement to dispel the rumour.
“Many news outlets would report a press statement as “he said, he said” giving the impression that we were stating our own opinion of the rumour rather than the facts. But when the pictures and video are out, everybody can see the reality.”
Rahman brings to his job over three decades of journalism including manning the Abuja bureau of the influential Thisday and functioning as the Deputy Editor of its Sunday edition. He set up and ran the Western Post, the. popular regional newspaper before his current position.
The publication of the pictures brought relief to millions of followers of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as they shared the pictures on social media.
They condemned those behind the rumour noting that they seem to concoct the rumour whenever the National Leader is out of the country.
